Snowy family time

Today one of my favorite families came over to play! Over the holidays many of my clients have families that come to celebrate together, some coming from very far away. Today I had a couple from Amsterdam with their new baby, their parents from Colorado and then of course the family which resides in Vermont, which I have had the pleasure of photographing before. I am so happy that I was able to commemorate this time for them with a few images. Thanks for coming over guys, it was a lot of fun and such a nice change to get out of the studio and into the great outdoors. I hope you have a wonderful visit and safe travels back home.

The smallest little one yet

Today I had the tiniest baby in the studio yet. Weighing in at just over 5 lbs, this little boy was ready for just about anything. We had lots of cuddle time with mom and dad, quite a few with his beautiful big sister then we moved on to birds nest, stocking stuffers, towel piling, you name it! He was such a good little baby and it was so nice to meet him. After photographing his mother while he was in-utero it's wonderful to see who was busy growing in there.

Fun family session

I always love to photograph families, there is just something about all the different interactions. I feel like I'm getting a glimpse of something that a lot of people don't necessarily get to see out in public. The joking, the ribbing, all the fun stuff that happens in a family. This family had all that! With the oldest off to college it is a rare moment that they are all together let alone be photographed. I can honestly say I have never had any mom in the studio that was so excited to be photographed! Thanks for that, I loved your enthusiasm! I just had a quick look at the pictures and thought I'd blog quickly so you could have a look. Here are two that caught my eye. I hope you had a safe trip back home =)

Little Man B and his family

I have been so blessed to be able to photograph so many newborns lately. I love it! This recent session was pretty much a photographers dream. Beautiful house, tons of natural light, a beautiful family and lots of great interactions. At 11 days old this little man doesn't know how lucky he is yet. I feel so honored whenever I am invited to someones house to capture such a special time. This was no exception. The whole crew was there to lend a helping hand, even two grandmas. Thanks for a wonderful time, I look forward to photographing Little Man B as he grows.

Sweet Baby R

What a pleasure this session was. Two older brothers and a precious little girl. At 13 days she is just a tiny bundle and so sweet. Her brothers adore her and are very gentle. This capture of them is quite serious which is surprising considering the abundance of energy in the room! Thank you for having me to your home, it was such a nice change from the studio.

Daddy's girl

This baby is no rookie, she has been here before! But this time she got to be photographed with her Daddy. You can just tell she is so comfortable in his arms. Little Miss C. I know you are going to be a daddy's girl! I should also mention that we had special guests here with her today, her Aunt and Uncle from Colorado came for a visit and to get some portraits done as well. It was a pleasure to meet you all, thank you for being so great during the session. And mom, you look fabulous as always! I can't wait for her 4 month session...you know how time flies.

Anticipation

After each session I have I always think, oh - I love photographing newborns, they are my favorite. Then a child will come to the studio and I think - this is so much fun, I love the spirit of a child. Then a family comes along and I think...oh, by far the family is best because I love they interactions and dynamics they are such fun to photograph. Well, with this beautiful family...I had it all! I had the wonderful dynamic of loving parents expecting their 2nd child. I had the fun spirit of the child, I had the glowing, expectant mother and soon will come the newborn! Wow! Here they are. Thanks you guys for coming, you were absolutely wonderful to photograph and I can't wait to see you soon. Keep me posted!

A little cherub

I'm so lucky to have such beautiful babies coming to the studio, this little guy was perfect. He was full of all kinds of expressions and was quick to smile and laugh. He seemed perfectly at home in the studio, very calm...what a lovely thing! Mom and Dad, thanks for coming today, it was so nice to meet you - you have a beautiful baby boy.

All boy

It must be tough being a 3 1/2 year old boy when you are being photographed. Clothing changes are required, staying in one room is expected, facing forwards is a plus and there are a few other requirements as well. Mr. B was so much fun to work with! We got some great shots and had fun too. Now don't tell anyone where I keep my secret stash of smarties!

The most precious bundle

Look at this little bundle! She is so amazing looking and a joy to photograph as well. At six weeks old it was so nice to get some eye contact and even a smile or two. It was a real pleasure to photograph both baby O and mom too.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!!! Actually it's after midnight so I'm a couple of minutes off. I know, I'm burning the candle at both ends! I just wanted to share a session I had a couple of days ago. These kiddos were so sweet and look at their hair - perfect! I was telling these children all about the memory in the camera and how it goes into the computer so they can see their pictures on the other end. Well, guys, here they are...magic! It was so nice to meet you both and mom too.

Fun in the snow

We braved the cold snow and rain! You have to love when your work takes you outside, even if the weather isn't perfect. Here are a few to share from a senior session I had today. She was great fun, had a great smile and didn't mind lying down in the snow! Perfect!

Sweet Pea T

I was really looking forward to meeting this baby. I had photographed her momma about a month ago for a maternity session. It is so nice to see what that little tummy bump turned out to be! She lives up to all expectations with a crop of dark hair, bright baby eyes, full lips and very long toes! I think I even got a little smile from her. Thank you for coming to the studio today, I feel honored that it was your first outing with Miss T. ever !

Black and whites from a family session

Here's a little more from my family session. Most of all I love black and white photographs. I love the way they look so classic, I love that they make you really look at the person instead of what they are wearing. I would love to have the nerve to become a classic black and white photographer....someday perhaps. For now, my clients love color mostly and I'm happy to oblige.

More snow!!

You may have seen my previous post but these sweet children are the real guiney pigs! They came to the studio for a family portrait last week having no idea what I was going to put them through! Thanks for being such good sports about it, I hope you had fun. I will post more of the session tomorrow.

One of my own

You would think that I have tons of portraits of my children, and I do but not as many as you think. I had a sweet boy in the studio yesterday, he said "Madeleine gets to do this all the time?" referring to my other daughter that he goes to school with. At least he had fun. With my children, they DO NOT cooperate when the camera comes out. I have to let them come to me, timing is everything. This morning they decided they wanted to set up the studio with a winter theme. I was on it! While they were "setting up" I got my camera ready, the lights all adjusted, etc". We pulled out the white paper, put down fake snow, Christmas trees, a sled, the works. It was fun but only lasts for a very short time. Here is one I captured of Ella during the mini session.

Sweet Baby C

I just love when newborns come to the studio. This one was no exception. What a little sweetie. She did a beautiful job with barely a peep. I hear that she is quite feisty but you'd never know it in these pictures, although she wasn't too fond of the crown that mom and grandma put on her head! What a treat to have 3 generations in the studio at one time. Thanks for coming and I can't wait to see you soon.

Double Fun!!

I really don't like being so corny, but what other change to I get to say fun stuff like that?!! This session is one of a kind for sure. Identical twin girls, wow! So sweet. At just the perfect age for photographs, not crawling yet but sitting up, we had a great session. They were so amazing about the multiple clothing changes we put them through, what great little personalities. Mom and Dad, you work together so well as a team it was fun seeing you both in action! Thanks for this opportunity, I really enjoyed having you all in the studio.
